About the movie: Similar to "Love Actually" and "New York, I Love You," "Hot Summer Days" is a collection of short stories following the lives of six very different couples in dealing with their love lives in various loosely and interrelated tales all set in a fierce summer due to global warming across three major cities in China. Also like the two movies, this movie has a notible cast and supporting cast (including Nicholas Tse, Jacky Cheung, Daniel Wu, Vivian Hsu, Barbie Hsu, Rene Liu, etc). Moreover, the casts challenge their own images. For instance, Nicholas Tse is potrait as a common repair man unlike his usual bad boy image. Barbie Hsu also gives up her long hair and replaces with a short choppy hair. Furthermore, Angelababy plays a country girl with little make-up on. The stories are simple yet touching. The movie shows the director's effort to capture the interelationship details. In term of the cinematography, the film is simple which also contributes to the overall theme of "love can happen to everyone and anytime when you least expected".
